Our June 2022 Volunteer Inspiring Pro Bono (VIP) has devoted her pro bono hours to TVC’s mission since she took our training in 2014. She is the great-granddaughter of a WWI veteran (who served in an all-black regiment) and the granddaughter of a WWII veteran. Kamaria Y. Davis is also a proud veteran herself. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as Cryptologic Technician-Technical (CTT), also known as Electronic Warfare or Electronics Intelligence (ELINT) analyst. She is the first woman in her family to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces – something her family is, rightfully, very proud of. Kamaria served in the Navy for five years, where her duty included an isolated tour on the small island of Diego Garcia, located in British Indian Ocean Territory. Immediately after her discharge, she utilized her Montgomery GI Bill to finance her undergraduate and law school education.

Kamaria is a native of Los Angeles, CA and is currently a Managing Attorney with Leibovic Law Group, LLP. She also provides legal support to Health Advocates, LLC, an LA based company focusing on revenue cycle solutions and social security disability advocacy. In the last decade, Kamaria has represented social security claimants in 39 states, including Hawaii. Prior to working as a disability attorney, she practiced in North Carolina State Court representing clients in criminal, juvenile delinquency, and civil matters. Her legal practice has focused on advocating for people who are generally at the worst point of their lives, and she frequently volunteers her time to help advance and empower members of her community.

In 2014, she attended our training on how to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and is a valued member of our National Volunteer Corps, proudly serving veterans in need receive the care, benefits, and compensation they earned from their military service. As a veteran, she personally understands the challenges that veterans can face after service and brings her passion and commitment to each case she takes. She has achieved successful outcomes for her clients in eleven cases, with her twelfth case pending.

“This experience has been priceless,” says Kamaria. “The work of a TVC volunteer, allows veterans to ultimately receive past due benefits after securing a remand from federal court. And as an added benefit, this experience has provided me with the transferrable skills to expand my appellate litigation knowledge; ultimately challenging dozens of unfair determinations issued by other government agencies in federal court.”

We’re very grateful to have someone as skillful as Kamaria working on behalf of the veterans we serve, and we thank her for her continued service to our country. We consider ourselves lucky to have someone with her experience in appellate litigation serving those who served. She is a respected member of our TVC National Volunteer Corps and truly a Volunteer who Inspires Pro Bono (VIP). Thank you, Kamaria!
