Ask an Attorney: Citizenship

Question
Can I get an American citizenship or residency if my grandfather is an Army veteran?

Answer
Hello and thank you for your question!

Generally, grandchildren of veterans are not eligible for expedited naturalization through their grandparents’ military service. There is an exception if the grandparent legally adopted the grandchild, and the grandparent passed away during service.
