The Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program provides free legal assistance to veterans and their loved ones who wish to or have filed an appeal at the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (http://www.uscourts.cavc.gov).

If you have received a denial for your VA claim from the Board of Veterans Appeals (known also as the Board or BVA), and you want to appeal the decision, you may qualify for a free attorney to represent you at the Court. If you meet our financial criteria, and we find at least one viable issue that we can argue at the Court in your favor, we will assign a trained pro bono attorney to your case, who will represent you at no charge.

Representation by an attorney at the Court levels the playing field. The VA will be represented by a lawyer who is familiar with the practices and procedures of the Court. Any veteran or family member taking a case to the Court should have the same advantage. While you will undoubtedly know the substance of your claim and appeal, your attorney will know the rules that govern how the Court works. Having an attorney will give you an opportunity to have the Court fully and fairly consider your case.
