Nicqelle Fleming, Esq.
Nicqelle Fleming is an Equal Justice Works Fellow. She serves as the program lead for The Veterans Consortium’s Veteran Naturalization Assistance Program, sponsored by Covington & Burling LLP and Northrop Grumman Corporation. Nicqelle previously joined TVC while in law school as a law clerk.
Nicqelle leads the Veteran Naturalization Assistance Program (VNAP) team, which serves non-citizen veterans through the process of naturalization. VNAP recruits and trains pro bono attorneys to assist veterans through the naturalization application.
VNAP started in the fall of 2020 and aims to assist non-citizen veterans through direct representation, discover why numbers have decreased recently for naturalization applications of active service members, and discover why veterans have been denied naturalization at a higher rate than civilian counterparts.
Nicqelle is a Georgetown University Law Center alum and currently lives in California. Her studies encompassed veteran services, criminal law, correctional law, and direct client representation. While at Georgetown, Nicqelle served in the Criminal Justice Clinic representing clients charged with misdemeanors before the Washington, D.C. Superior Court, and clients before parole hearings in the Central Detention Facility in Washington, D.C. Nicqelle also served on Georgetown’s executive boards for the Women’s Legal Alliance and the Georgetown Art Law Association. Upon graduation Nicqelle was awarded the Dean’s Certificate for her service to the Georgetown Community and Exceptional Pro Bono Pledge Recognition for accomplishing over 200 hours of pro bono work.
